My Blueberry Nights

25 September 2022

Director: Wong Ka Wai

See

Her:

Him: My Blueberry Nights, Wong Ka Wai’s English language film featuring his signature neon lights, saturation, smoke and ghosting frame rates. With Jude law and Norah Jones as protagonists with vignettes of their interactions with other actors.

Think

Her:

Him: The narrative felt strong than Won Ka Wai’s Cantonese films which are more abstract. This one was a bit cute with its key bowl and nobody wanting to eat the blueberry pie.

Feel

Her:

Him: I’ve never seen Norah Jones act before and she held her own as a shrinking violet than Rachel Weiss or Natalie Portamn’s characters who were dominant. I like that she had to go away in order to change over the year from leaving New York, Rather than jump from one relationship to the next with Jude Law. They felt it then but he had to let go of his Russian ex and the klutczy to lick sleeping beauty’s face.
